Masks, rice bags and straw hats: Protesters stage second rally in Seoul

For the second time in three weeks, tens of thousands of South Koreans converged in Seoul on Saturday to rally under a host of issues, including labor reform, a comprehensive investigation of the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster and a recent government decision to require secondary schools to adopt state-issued history textbooks.

The day of protest, which concluded peacefully, was held in the wake of a similar event on Nov. 14, which ended in violent confrontation between police and protesters. Police attempted to block another rally, but the Seoul Administrative Court denied the movement just two days before it took place. Continue reading
